{"id":437,"date":"2015-03-31T11:57:38","date_gmt":"2015-03-31T18:57:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/?p=437"},"modified":"2016-07-20T09:02:23","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T16:02:23","slug":"easter-weekend-brevets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/?p=437","title":{"rendered":"Easter Weekend Brevets"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Time to take stock &#8211; we&#8217;ve had our initial 200 and 300 km ACP qualifying brevets.\u00a0 These rides were well received but they visited roads and trails that we know too well.\u00a0 It&#8217;s time to go farther afield to roads less traveled.\u00a0 There will be no Tualco,  Centennial or BGT on these routes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In that spirit,  we&#8217;re serving up the following ACP brevets this coming weekend (Easter):<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>4\/4 <a href=\"http:\/\/seattlerando.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=518:spring-300k-acp&amp;catid=52:2015-brevets\" target=\"_blank\">Second Chance 300K &#8211; Bremerton-Elma-Quilcene-<wbr \/>Bainbridge\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li>4\/5 <a href=\"http:\/\/seattlerando.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=517:spring-200k-acp&amp;catid=52:2015-brevets\" target=\"_blank\">Easter 200k &#8211; Bainbridge &#8211; Port Townsend &#8211; Bainbridge<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>We&#8217;ve designed the weekend so you can take a ferry over the day of the ride, or make a weekend of it if you want to ride both which is great training for PBP, or even the 600K. Come out for both and get yourself used to back to back riding with more sleep than the 600K schedule allows.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>4\/4\u00a0Second Chance 300K &#8211; 7:15 AM start<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"attachment_443\" style=\"width: 436px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/hoodcanal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-443\" class=\"wp-image-443\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/hoodcanal.jpg\" alt=\"Hood Canal\" width=\"426\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/hoodcanal.jpg 640w, https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/hoodcanal-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/hoodcanal-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-443\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hood Canal<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Heading out of Bremerton to the southwest over initially steep and then gentler hills, you\u2019ll work your way down towards the nuclear towers of Elma, and then turn back north at the Brady Store, the first of only two controls.\u00a0 From Skokomish, the route follows the rolling shoreline of the Hood Canal with watery views of the Kitsap Peninsula.\u00a0 If the sky is clear, be sure to look to your left for views of the Olympic mountains, particularly near Dosewallips State Park. Just before Quilcene you\u2019ll summit the ride\u2019s highest point, Walker Pass, at ~768ft. The store in Quilcene closes at 8pm, from which time the control will be staffed. Then to the Hood Canal Bridge, through Port Gamble, and onto some quiet roads leading back to Bainbridge Island and the finish at the Island Country Hotel.
