{"id":1937,"date":"2021-06-11T16:20:24","date_gmt":"2021-06-11T23:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/?p=1937"},"modified":"2021-06-12T19:16:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-13T02:16:22","slug":"summer-populaire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.seattlerando.org\/?p=1937","title":{"rendered":"Summer Populaire- the perfect route??"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattlerando.org\/content.aspx?page_id=4002&amp;club_id=928629&amp;item_id=1297912\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.seattlerando.org\/content.aspx?page_id=4002&amp;club_id=928629&amp;item_id=1297912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Registration link<\/a> (closes 6\/16 at midnight)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I think of what makes a great populaire, among the important parts are things like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>it should start with an espresso (doppio of course)<\/li><li>20 meters of gravel and a bit of climbing at the beginning to warm up<\/li><li>have a near- equal number of left turns and right turns<\/li><li>at 33.7K (give or take a few hundred meters), a twice- baked almond croissant magically appears<\/li><li>gently rolling roads through farm- and pasture- land with views of a winding river<\/li><li>somewhere around 77K, maybe more coffee and a treat, before a bit of climbing to justify all those calories (don&#8217;t overdo it- there&#8217;s only 30K to go!)<\/li><li>100 meters of single track, just enough to add to the excitement<\/li><li>\u00a0a nice, quick downhill before 7K of water views along E Lake Samammish Pkwy NE<\/li><li>finish at a brewery (with a food truck!) to quench my thirst and visit with other riders<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If this checks any of your boxes, come to our Summer Populaire on Saturday, June 19.
